Awards Season 2015 – The Best of Men’s Fashion

As awards season draws to a close, we look back at the best men’s looks from this year’s ceremonies, and how you can add some red carpet-chic to your wardrobe.

Eddie Redmayne – The Golden Globe Awards

Eddie Redmayne - Golden Globes

Eddie Redmayne kicked off 2015 in style – the actor on everyone’s radar this season put an interesting twist on the usual black tux when he showed up to the Golden Globes in this stylish velvet blazer. Paired with a classic bow tie and a pair of high shine brogues, the 33 year-old actor’s look certainly lived up to his new movie star image.

Obviously, the key to achieving this look is the jacket and, unfortunately, velvet blazers don’t tend to come cheap. However, if you head over to ASOS, you’ll find velvet blazers in a range of different colours for a reasonable price of around £80. Paired with these slim-fit trousers, black bow tie, and these glossy, Base London brogues, you’ll be rocking the Eddie Redmayne look in no time.

Jared Leto – The Screen Actors Guild Awards

Jared Leto - SAG Awards

Jared Leto stole the show at the 2015 SAG Awards when he stepped out onto the coveted blue carpet in a bright, dodger-blue jacket that stood out with ease amidst a crowd of plain, black tuxedos. With this colour set to be huge for Spring 2015, Jared’s look was way ahead of the trend. He also sported a pair of rhinestone covered loafers that added even more excitement to an already head-turning ensemble.

The statement pieces of Jared’s look are his colourful blazer and jewelled slippers and, although no exact matches seem to be present on the highstreet right now, this blue Ben Sherman jacket and these polka dot Ted Baker loafers come close. Accessorised correctly with this rose pink lapel pin by Alexander Dobell and the blue socks from this Next multipack, and this look will be yours before you know it.

Nick Jonas – The Grammys

Nick Jonas - Grammys

From his sharp, perfectly tailored suits to his bang on-trend, casual style, Nick Jonas has been setting the bar for celebrities everywhere in terms of men’s fashion. This years Grammys were certainly no exception, as the former Disney channel star dressed to impress in a grey, checked suit. Worn with a pair of sleek, white trainers, the up-and-coming musician added a modern edge to this year’s red carpet.

David Oyelowo – The Academy Awards

David Oyelowo - Oscars

By far the most daring male on the red carpet at this year’s Oscars, David Oyelowo ditched the blacks and navys that most actors opted for in favour of this striking, maroon tuxedo. Matched with a bright red waistcoat and bow-tie, and a pair of high-shine burgundy shoes, the “Selma” actor has never looked better.

Although David’s bright shades of red are sadly nowhere to be found on the highstreet, over at ASOS, you can still find a look that’s quite similar. This darker burgundy suit may not be as eye-catching as David Oyelowo’s, but is still extremely fashion forward and will set you apart from the crowd. Add these gloss-finish, burgundy Derbies, a matching dark red waistcoat and bow tie for a look worthy of the red carpet.
