Dear Readers

Hi guys,

I just thought I’d post to let you all know that I’ll be taking a hiatus from blogging. I have lots of important things coming up at school right now, including exams at the start of the summer, and unfortunately won’t be able to find the time to maintain the blog. I’m really sorry to everyone that enjoys reading it, but hopefully I’ll be back very soon with even better posts for you all!

Thanks for reading,

Style Spotlight: Superstar Supercolor Collection – Pharrell Williams x adidas Originals

It was announced a while back that music sensation Pharrell Williams would be teaming up with adidas for a line of their Superstar trainers – and, now that they’ve been released, we can see that this collaboration was an amazing one. Here’s a little bit more on the collection, and why you should add a pair (or maybe a few) to your wardrobe.

Logo

Background

First introduced in 1969, the Superstars quickly became one of adidas’ most popular and recognisable pieces, and it wasn’t long before their famous rubber-shell toe design became iconic in the world of sneakers. Various incarnations have hit the shelves over the years, but nothing quite on the same scale as the new Supercolor line. Pharrell Williams joined forces with adidas back in 2014 and has since released quite a few pieces, with this new take on adidas’ classic trainer being the latest.

So, why should a pair of Superstars be the newest addition to your wardrobe?

Long Lasting Style

As said earlier, the Superstars are a classic trainer, and have been widely recognised across the world for over 45 years. This classic appeal will ensure that your trainers stay in fashion for years to come, and will never have to be pushed aside in favour of the latest trend.

Flexibility

Particularly in the last few years, trainers have become far more prevalent in the world of fashion. Almost overnight, a pair of shoes that would only ever have been worn for sports or comfort, suddenly became an essential in a fashion-forward man’s wardrobe. Whether you wear them for a night out with your friends, or use them to add some Sports Luxe style to your work suit, trainers are currently a go-to piece for almost every event.

Variety

“Supercolor is a celebration of equality through diversity. With 50 colors of the Superstar, everybody will be able to select his or her color. It is more diverse than any pack ever before and therefore it is more individual than any pack ever before.”

– Pharrell

You can’t really put it any better than that. With a huge selection of colours, you’re bound to find one that’s perfect for your style and for any occasion.

My Top Tips: How to Travel In Style

Whether you’re planning a weekend away this Easter, or simply want to be prepared for this year’s Summer vacation, here are my top tips to ensure you have everything you need to travel and that you look good doing so.

1) Suitcase Sophistication

Suitcase Black Suitcase Dogstooth Suitcase Red

This is a problem that affects most people out there, and overcoming it is one of the keys to looking stylish when travelling: old suitcases. People can go decades without replacing their suitcases, and rightly so. I mean, if it still works then why get rid of it? This is true to some extent. You don’t need a new set of suitcases when you go on vacation, but if you want to look good when you do then its a huge step in the right direction – a set of matching luggage in an on-trend colour or style will make you stand out instantly. I would recommend opting for a fabric suitcase rather than hard, as it often looks far more sophisticated.  However, if you decide to go for a hard case, find one in a darker shade with a minimalist design.t. Unless you’re moving, try to stick to no more than two suitcases – a large one and a small one – along with your carry on, as any more would be difficult to carry about.

2) Carry-on Some Style

Carry On Black  Carry On Floral

As well as your suitcases, a fashionable carry-on bag is important in achieving style success when travelling. There are tons more options with the carry-on than there are with suitcases, and its important that you pick one that compliments the rest of your luggage, fits your style, and fits all of your stuff too. Some retailers offer carry-ons that match your suitcases entirely, which can look great but can also be a bit over the top sometimes – its up to you to decide on that one as each individual case is different. However, if you do decide to go for a bag that doesn’t completely match, I’d recommend a duffle bag/holdall. They come in a ton of different sizes and colours, meaning that you can easily find one that fits everything you need it to and that looks good with the rest of your luggage. A duffle bag is also the perfect alternative for your suitcase when going on short trips, and it is definitely worth looking into getting yourself one.

3) Comfort is Key

Asos Coat Blue Jeans Blue Jumper

Once you have your bags out of the way, the main thing you have left to worry about is what you’ll actually wear to travel in. Again, this is very much down to your own personal situation. For example, a business trip with your work colleagues will require you to dress more formal, whereas a family vacation will see you opt for something more casual. However, no matter how you dress, it is important to remember to be comfortable, especially if you’ll be travelling for a long period of time. Try pieces such as jumpers, cardigans etc. and go for a suit that has already been worn in when dressing more formal, and go for your favourite pair of jeans when a casual outfit is more appropriate. A statement jacket should definitely be considered either way as it is likely the piece that will be seen the most. Keeping everything else fairly muted is a great way to help this piece stand out, but other statement pieces that compliment it such as shirts and shoes can work just as well. Finally, be sure to accessorize appropriately depending on your destination – don’t forget your sunglasses when headed towards the equator, and pack yourself an umbrella when visiting places within the UK.

So, are you planning a trip away any time soon?

How will you make sure that you look good whilst you’re travelling?

Game of Thrones Season 5: 10 Reasons Why I’m Excited

Game of Thrones is set to begin its 5th season on April 13th here in the UK and, being a huge fan of both the books and the TV series, I’m extremely excited. The season 4 finale opened new doors for the characters, and gave viewers plenty new questions that they can’t wait to be answered. Here are the top 10 reasons why I’m looking forward to show’s return, and why you should be too.

1) A New Chapter for Arya

GoT Season 5 - Arya

The end of season 4 saw the youngest Stark girl leave Westeros behind as she set sail for the exotic lands of Braavos, where her skills are truly put to the test. I won’t spoil things for you, but I will say this – if you thought Arya was badass before, you haven’t seen anything yet.

2) Varys’ Plans for Tyrion

GoT Season 5 - Tyrion

Fans all over the world were left stunned with excitement when the season 5 trailer seemed to hint that Tyrion would be crossing paths with none other than Daenerys Targaryen. With Varys being involved, we can’t really be 100% sure, but the possibility alone is enough to make me want to tune in.

3) Sansa Joins the Game

GoT Season 5 - Sansa

We saw a new, darker side of Sansa emerge towards the end of season 4, following her escape from King’s Landing. I can’t really say that this is much of a shock after everything that she’s been put through, but I can say that I’m intrigued to see where this new change of character takes her this season. We can bet on Littlefinger being involved big time.

4) Cersei’s Downfall

GoT Season 5 - Cersei

Bad blood has been brewing between the Queen Regent and the young queen-to-be, Margaery Tyrell, since the latter’s engagement to Joffrey Baratheon. However, the feud reached an all time high in season 4, and isn’t set to slow down anytime soon in season 5, as characters such as the High Sparrow are thrown into the mix. This is one plot line that you simply cannot miss.

5) The Sand Snakes of Dorne

GoT Season 5 - Obara

This upcoming season will finally see the introduction of Dorne – home to the powerful house Martell. The promise of a completely new land may be enough to excite plenty of fans out there, but what I’m really looking forward to is seeing Oberyn Martell’s daughters, otherwise known as the ‘Sand Snakes’ finally brought to life. Fierce isn’t even the word.

6) What Happened to Myrcella?

GoT Season 5 - Myrcella

As we travel to Dorne, the Sand Snakes aren’t the only characters to be looking forward to, with Myrcella Baratheon finally set to reappear. You may remember her being shipped off to Dorne early in season 2, only ever making minor appearances before this. However, things are about to change in season 5, with Myrcella set to take on a much bigger role than before.

7) A Question of Loyalty on the Wall

GoT Season 5 - Jon Snow

We last saw Jon Snow at the wall, accompanied by a claimant to the Iron Throne – Stannnis Baratheon – as they joined forces to defeat Mance Raider’s wildling army. While the victory was tremendous and the wall is seemingly without any threats, expect to see lots of tension build between Jon Snow and Stannis, as the politically neutral stance of the Night’s Watch clashes with Stannis’ quest to win the throne.

8) Tywin’s Lingering Presence

GoT Season 5 - Tywin

Possibly one of the biggest shocks of season 4 was the death of Tywin Lannister at the hands of his youngest child – Tyrion. Despite this dramatic turn of events, Charles Dance, who played Tywin, has revealed that he will be returning for a non-flashback scene in season 5. Although this is likely nothing more than his character’s funeral, the announcement did raise the question “will Tywin’s death continue to take its toll on characters during season 5?” My guess is yes, it will.

9) Ramsay Takes Repulsive to a New Level

GoT Season 5 - Ramsay

It may be fair to say that Ramsay Bolton, is the most despised character in the whole of Game of Thrones. While most fans have their own reasons for disliking certain characters, his savage, cruel actions have made it impossible to not to do so. Earning back these fans doesn’t seem to be on his agenda in season 5, where he will continue to be every bit of the cold-blooded villain he is.

10) Westeros is Still on Dany’s Mind

Got Season 5 - Daenerys

Daenerys may have left many fans shocked last season when she decided to remain in Meereen and rule, rather than continue with her plans to invade Westeros. It seems Mother of Dragons will not hold herself back for long, however, as hints of her long awaited journey to Westeros are being dropped left, right and centre. New allies, new tactics and, of course, dragons, may finally see Daenerys stake her claim to the Iron Throne and fight to win back what was taken from her family so many years before.

So, will you be tuning in for what is bound to be another great season from Game of Thrones?

What are you most looking forward to as the show makes its return?

April Playlist: What I’m Listening To

With April just days away, here’s a quick round-up of the top 5 songs I’ll be listening to this next month, and why you should give them all a listen too.

1) B*tch Better Have My Money – Rihanna [Out Now]

Rihanna BBHMM

The second single to drop from Rihanna’s highly-anticipated eighth studio album (dubbed ‘R8’ by her fans), BBHMM is completely different from the previous ‘FourFiveSeconds’, but not at all in a bad way. Co-produced yet again by Kanye West, the track has a darker, more urban vibe than the previous single, similar to that of her fourth album ‘Rated R’, and has you hooked from the very first listen.

2) Jealous (Remix) – Nick Jonas feat. Tinashé [Released April 5th]

Nick Jonas Jealous

I must say, when I first heard about Nick Jonas’ first solo effort, I was a little bit reluctant to give it a listen. However, when I finally did, I wished I’d done it sooner. The song surpassed my expectations by a mile, and I quickly fell in love with the R&B-esque production and the catchy lyrics. The official remix featuring upcoming R&B superstar Tinashé is even better, with the young singer adding even more of an urban feel to the track.

3) All Hands on Deck (Remix) – Tinashé feat. Iggy Azalea [Released April 19th]

Tinashé All Hands on Deck

I’ve been a huge fan of Tinashé for a while now; I loved her mixtapes and her album, and became officially hooked when I saw her live in Manchester earlier this month. Following guest appearances on singles by Ty Dolla $ign, Kid Ink as well as the Nick Jonas remix I mentioned earlier, the songstress has definitely been keeping herself busy – and she is showing no signs of slowing down as she teams up with no other than Iggy Azalea for her latest single, a remix of the album track “All Hands on Deck”. Iggy’s fiercely confident verse only adds to the club-ready production and Tinashé’s killer vocals. If this song isn’t a hit, something is wrong with the world.

4) Biscuits – Kacey Musgraves [Out Now]

Kacey Musgraves Biscuits

Kacey Musgraves took the world of country by storm in 2013, following the release of her fantastic album ‘Same Trailer Different Park’. Her latest effort ‘Biscuits’, although a little bit more light-hearted, channels the same blunt, witty appeal as her previous work, and has already set off climbing the country music charts. If this single is any indication as to what’s in store for Kacey this year as she releases her second studio album, then I for one am very excited.

5) I Really Like You – Carly Rae Jepsen [Released April 26th]

Carly Rae Jepsen I Really Like You

This song is everything that I could possibly have wished for when I heard that Carly Rae Jepsen had recorded what was set to be ‘the next Call Me Maybe’. The lyrics are fun and catchy, the vocals are great, and the ’80s inspired production just couldn’t be more perfect. It isn’t ‘the next Call Me Maybe’, in fact, I think its even better than that. Paired with a hilarious, star-filled music video, there’s no doubt that this song will be huge.

So, what will you be listening to this April?

Spring Essential: The Rain Mac

With April showers soon to be on their way, its time that you prepared yourself with some spring essentials – and what better place to start than with a classic rain coat? With various styles and retailers out there, here’s all you need to know when shopping for this much needed piece.

Style

1) Classic

Classic Black Classic Blue

           Classic Yellow Classic Navy

Following the rain mac’s return to the world of fashion last year, classic colours and styles led the comeback. With the trend still going strong now in SS15, these classic styles carry a sort of retro-old school feel that will fit nicely into any wardrobe and allows you to wear the jacket for seasons to come and still look cool, even when other trends take its place on the runway. For a truly retro style, go for one with a matte finish in either yellow, blue or black, or experiment with different colours and high-shine textures for a look that may be better suited to your own personal style.

2) Printed

               Printed Blue Printed Khaki

 Printed StarsPrinted Space

Prints have been huge in men’s fashion recently, from aztec to space-print to florals, each season finds a new pattern dominating the runways. Over the past few seasons, the rain mac has been one of the first pieces to receive the new print treatment, SS15 being no exception. These particular jackets are designed to make a statement, and will do so best when paired with neutral pieces, allowing them to stand out.

3) Transparent

Transparent Black Transparent Blue

Transparent Clear

A much more modern and edgy take on the classic rain mac, transparent variations have popped in tons of different stores, and are a great way of adding some individuality to your outfits. Fully clear styles can work both as a statement piece when worn with neutral tones, or can be the perfect way to showcase a show-stopping shirt, jumper etc. whilst still keeping dry. Tinted rain macs don’t carry the same flexibility, but are even more eye-catching, and look great with different shades of the jacket’s colour. Topman are really the place to go to for these, with a small collection of transparent and semi-transparent choices just waiting for you.

Things to Remember

1) There are two different types of rain macs out there: quality ones that are meant to last, and cheaper ones that are made for short use and meant to be disposed of afterwards. If you’re looking for protection from the rain for the whole season, you want the first kind, whereas if you’re looking for an easy way to stay dry at a camping trip or a festival, the second kind may be more what you’re after.

2) Something that needs to be kept in mind more concerning chunkier, clear jackets – plastic scratches. This may sound a bit silly, but it is important to remember to be careful with these kinds of jackets as scratches show up quite badly and can easily ruin the jacket’s polished, modern style.

3) Unlike other jackets, rain macs are there first and foremost to protect you from the rain, not to keep you warm. Because of this, you’ll find yourself wearing at least a few layers underneath it, and need to make sure that your jacket will fit over these. If you have any doubts about whether it will or won’t, you may want to try it on in store or consider ordering one size bigger than you usually would.

So, what kind of rain mac will you be hiding under when the rain hits this spring?

What other rainy-day items would you consider ‘spring essentials’?

Steal His Style: Mark Ronson

To say that the last six months have been busy for Mark Ronson would be a complete understatement. He’s not only found himself atop of the UK charts with his latest album, but his Bruno Mars collaboration ‘Uptown Funk’ has taken the world by storm, topping charts and setting records in countries all over the world. However, the grammy award-winning producer has also been at the top of his game in terms of fashion recently, ranking in the Top 50 best dressed men of the year over at GQ. But how can you add some Mark Ronson-esque style to your wardrobe?

What You Need to Know

Brit Awards 2015 Fashion Week Mortdecai Premiere

Mark Ronson’s style is very simple, yet very effective, and can therefore be easily achieved. Most of his outfits consist of one statement piece paired with all neutral pieces (mainly black) to help it stand out. Along with the extra attention being drawn to the key part of the outfit, this also prevents his looks from looking too busy and from clashing. This can be adapted for any style or occasion, for example, if you’re looking for a more smart-casual look, opt for a pair of black jeans, shoes and a bright shirt or jacket, if you’re after a more sports-luxe feel then go for a pair of black slimline joggers, black trainers and a printed sweatshirt etc. The excitement doesn’t just have to be kept to the top half either – experiment with statement trousers or shoes, while keeping the rest of your outfit plain for a look that still has the same effect, but is a little less common.

Get the Look

             Black TrousersBlack Brogues

   Black Trainers          Black Jeans

Whereas Mark usually opt for a pair of smart, black trousers for his high-profile appearances, something that would work great for formal parties or a day at the office, you may find that a pair of slim, black jeans fits better into your everyday wardrobe. Brogues are a stylish and easy to pull off option for formal footwear, and all-black trainers will give the style feel to your casual looks.

Tartan Blazer Floral Trousers

Statement Trainers Floral Bomber

Statement pieces can vary from bold patterned shirts and blazers, to brightly coloured shoes, and are best picked by you to ensure that they suit your style. That being said, these are four great items that would look amazing as the crown jewel of your outfits this season. This tartan blazer from Topman is very similar to the one that Mr. Ronson sported at fashion week, and will allow you to easily recreate his look. The printed Zara trousers and the Nike Internationalist trainers are perfect examples of how to add print to the bottom half of your outfit, and I recently purchased this great Forever 21 bomber jacket which is not only perfect to obtain a Mark Ronson-like look, but the canvas type fabric is extremely comfortable and the colours and style of the jacket are bang on-trend right now.

So, will you be channelling your inner Mark Ronson with your fashion choices this season?

What’s your favourite Mark Ronson look?
